Choreographer in Residence

Choreographer in Residence: Bethan Peters

Dates of Residence: April 2015 – June 2016

Bethan was the Travellers’ Tails creative practitioner in residence from April 2015 until June 2016. During this time she collaborated with Tidemill Primary School in Deptford on ‘Crossing the Line’, created a unique site-specific film, ‘Who Is the Land’, and led on a cross-generational trail piece, ‘We May Be Some Time’.

She is a London based choreographer and teacher working across the professional and community dance sectors. Her choreographic practice explores energetic contemporary dance forms, site-specific work and cross-arts collaboration. She is interested in creating work for unusual spaces that can offer spectators alternative ways of engaging with dance, and helps to develop partnerships with individuals and organisations from other fields of knowledge.  Having choreographed for a diverse range of people, the individual stories and unique physical expression of the dancers that she works with are at the core of Bethan’s practice. She is concerned with how dance can equally be an artistic and social experience for those who access it at any level.
